The Southeast Asian ethnic group is a largely underrepresented community, one that faces social inequality, economic barriers, and educational disparity.

Established in 2015, UCSB’s Southeast Asian Union (SEA-U) aims to make social issues salient to the community, empower Southeast Asian American members, and provide education resources to not only UCSB’s current Southeast Asian community, but also future generations of Southeast Asians.

Every year, we host an overnight youth conference for first-generation low-income high school students in California in hopes of encouraging and empowering Southeast Asian youths to pursue higher education and learn how to address community issues.
